Our Review
TrimRx: Our Review
glp compared team
Editorial team of researchers on GLP-1 providers
Our first impression of TRIM RX was that it looked pretty standard as far as compounded GLP medication providers go. The website does a good job showcasing what they are offering as well as guiding you through the process of getting started.
In order to provide the most feedback we can, without actually going through with the medication order, we went through Trim Rx’s intake process to get a feel for what potential patients can expect. While most of Trim RX’s process was pretty standard and straightforward, there were a couple of potential red flags that we discovered as well.
Taking the Trim RX Quiz
The Trim RX quiz starts out much like you’d expect; it asks for your height, weight, what your goal weight is, and what’s important to you regarding your goals (lose weight, build muscle, or maintain the body you have). We thought the options for this question were a bit odd, as using a GLP medication really wouldn’t help you build muscle, and most people who are considering it wouldn’t be doing it to maintain the body they have, but they were options nonetheless.
This is where the first potential red flag popped up for us. On the next screen, there was a pop-up advertising that Trim RX is #1 in Yahoo Health, but if you actually read the description, the reasons “why it’s #1” have absolutely nothing to do with a GLP medication; it talks about helping with things like nausea and vomiting, and being prescribed alongside a GLP medication. This description sounded like a popular anti-nausea medication that’s often prescribed for those who experience nausea caused by the weight loss meds. We find this to be a bit of a red flag because the description does not match what they’re claiming. It might be a simple error, but a fully legitimate company wouldn’t let something like that slip.
The next potential red flag was that when we entered our “goal weight,” the quiz kept using a different number than what we had entered. It was close, but not the number we entered. Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but noteworthy.
Next, the process and timeline were outlined for us. According to the timeline, by week 9+, our body would become a “fat-burning machine.” While this isn’t necessarily wrong, we do want to point out that GLP medications are not fat burners; they are appetite suppressants. They work by decreasing your appetite so you eat fewer calories and therefore are in a caloric deficit and lose weight.
Trim RX also claims that they “get to the root of your metabolic issues so you get a long-term solution, not just another quick fix.” We didn’t really see any evidence that they do that. From our understanding, they are simply prescribing the medications if appropriate, not doing any kind of additional lab testing, coaching, etc.
After a few more questions regarding health, goals, and current status, Trim RX claims inside the quiz that their medical providers review every form submission within 24 hours, which would be excellent if that’s accurate, as speed of processing is a big deal in such a competitive space.
It’s at this point of the quiz that we were asked for a date of birth, name, email, etc. Based on the information we fed the quiz, we were given a 94% chance of treatment success if qualified. No payment is collected at the time of the quiz submission; however, you are required to enter your credit card information to be charged once the provider has reviewed and approved your case, which is great.
Pricing and Fees
Trim RX advertises no hidden fees and that “everything is included.” By “everything,” they mean the medication, the syringes, the online doctor consultation, and access to the care team. It is unclear if Trim RX provides video consultations upon request or if everything is done via email/text. Some states do require a video consult for approval, so we assume that a video consult would be scheduled for those who live in states that require one.
Trim RX has a very basic product offering: compounded semaglutide and compounded tirzepatide. That’s it, no microdosing and no brand-name products. We honestly thought, based on the look and feel of the website and the fact that they only offer these two basic products, that Trim RX would be one of the more budget-friendly options, but we actually found their prices to be a bit higher than most. For reference, a one-month supply of compounded tirzepatide is $399/month.
The good news is that Trim RX provides some options for payment plans. You can choose from the monthly plan, 6-month plan, and 12-month plan. The longer your plan term, the more you save. Trim RX also has a first-month promo where you get $120 off your first month, but that discount applies to the first month only; your monthly price will increase to the regular monthly fee after that.
According to the website, you will be charged the same price for all dosage levels, all of which are prescribed and shipped within 48 hours, all of which is great and definitely a plus.
Scouring the Internet
We always take online reviews with a grain of salt because they are usually written mostly from the perspective of customers who had a negative experience or are fake. That said, it’s always worthwhile to take a look around and see what people are saying about the service.
The most noteworthy feedback we found was that Trim RX could sometimes be pretty slow to respond to customer inquiries, but when they got the medication, they were happy with it. We didn’t find anything out of the ordinary, as many of the comments and feedback are identical to what you’ll hear about most other companies. No telehealth company is ever going to be 100% perfect when it comes to custom support.
If We Were Making the Decision…
If we were making the decision whether to trust Trim RX with our compounded GLP-1 needs, our biggest hesitation would be price. It appears that Trim RX is charging a premium price, but we didn’t see any evidence that they are offering a premium service. And while the $120 off your first month discount is appealing, it only applies to the first month.
Unfortunately for Trim RX, there are a lot of other providers out there that are selling the same products and services at lower costs. So, unless they assured us that they would be delivering a premium product and/or service, it’s very likely that we would go looking for another provider that had a lower price point.
All that being said, besides a couple of things in the quiz that felt a bit fishy or made us roll our eyes a bit, we’re pretty sure Trim RX would deliver a quality product, and it wouldn’t be a hassle, which, let’s be honest, is what a lot of people who are seeking a GLP through a telehealth provider are looking for.
