Our Take

Comparing Join Josie vs Amble

After researching both Join Josie and Join Amble the first things I noticed was their GLP-1 pricing is fairly similar, and they are trying to serve different types of patients. Beyond offering GLP-1 treatment options, the rest of their care model points in different directions. So this comparison will focus on the better fit.

I’ll start off talking about the biggest differences, then get into similarities, and finally discuss variables and my recommendations.

The Biggest Differences

In order for someone to choose wisely between Josie and Amble, it’s important to know the key differences. I found four: types of patients served, injectables vs oral format, microdosing, and third-party review platforms.

Types of Patients Served

The most obvious difference for me was what type of patients Amble and Josie serve. Amble serves both men and women, offers GLP-1s along side of longevity medications, such as NAD+. On the other hand, Josie leans more into midlife women (perimenopause and menopause), offering GLP-1s and Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

Injectable vs Oral

When I researched both providers’ plans and pricing, I noticed Amble only offers injectable compounded GLP-1s, whereas Josie offers injectables and oral formats. There are still many people out there that have a real needle phobia - Join Josie can cater to those patients. Amble falls short on that one.

Microdosing

Another important distinction between these two providers is that Join Josie offers compounded GLP-1 microdosing, while amble does not. In the menopause community, microdosing has been increasing in popularity, but patients should know microdosing is not an FDA-approved dosing schedule. It’s supposed to be used as a weight maintenance plan. Although most brands in the industry that offer microdosing market it for 5-10 lbs weight loss plan, Josie looks like their playing by the rulebooks and have it labeled as weight maintenance - that’s trustworthy marketing in my book.

Third-Party Review Platforms

The next biggest difference is user reviews/experiences on third-party platforms, such as Trustpilot and reddit. Amble has collected over 4,000 customer reviews on Trustpilot, while Josie doesn’t have a Trustpilot account. However, on reddit, there seems to be hundreds of positive experiences reported with Join Josie. To me, Amble has a lot more credibility based on third-party review platforms. Josie does have positive reviews out there, but not nearly as many as Amble.

The Similarities

You can expect the process of getting prescribed a GLP-1 medication from either Join Josie or Amble to be pretty similar. You’ll start with the intake process, answering basic health and lifestyle questions. Your answers determine a pre-qualified “yes” or “no.”

Josie’s intake form has menopause-related questions. I’m told from Josie, it counts as part of the provider review process. After you answer all questions, you’ll be able to choose the medication you’re interested in. If you aren’t sure, you can take their “Find My Path” quiz, or choose a medication to get the ball rolling, then communicate with your connected provider, letting them know that you’d like them to choose based on your health profile.

Amble’s intake process is very straightforward as well. You’ll answer all the basic health questions, which will determine your pre-eligibility. Then, you’ll be able to see all of the pricing and plans to choose from.

Both Josie and Amble have month-to-month plans, which are both reasonable prices - Amble has a much lower compounded semaglutide month-to-month plan, while compounded tirzepatide is around the same price.

Multi-month plans, or bulk ordering, is available for both providers. These plans come in 3, 6 or 12 month bundles. If you have the money up-front, you can end up saving in the long run. Speaking of savings, if you take the “Find My Path” quiz at Josie, you’ll get a discount code, which can help you save more if you decide they’re the better fit.

My Recommendations

Partner pharmacies, customer service, and response time are different for every patient, but are some of the most important variables when choosing a GLP-1 provider. Most people looking at comparisons or reviews want to know about those variables. However, it differs for each patient and is hard to report on.

I can, however, provide my honest opinion on which provider is the better fit.

Overall I feel like Amble is the better provider for a general audience that has longevity at top of mind. Their ratings on third-party review platforms are very good, which brings trust to the decision.

Josie is a great fit for women who may want to associate with a perimenopause or menopause brand, and they connect you with experienced providers in the field. They don’t have third-party review data, but they do have reddit data, and it’s positive - women are talking about them in a very good way.

If I deciding between Josie and Amble, my decision would come down to this:

  • Women over 35: I would choose Josie, since they are a full-service menopause telehealth provider, offering HRT and GLP-1s.
  • Lowest semaglutide price: I would choose Amble - their compounded semaglutide prices are far lower.
  • Microdose / Weight Maintenance: Josie offers it, and at a very low price point, while Amble doesn’t.
  • Highest-rated based on third-party review platforms: I’d lean towards Amble, since they have the most user reviews between the two providers.
  • GLP-1 with Longevity: Amble offers more longevity medications than Josie, I would choose Amble for this care path.
